... and your proof for that all was a hoax is one comment from the kid. For the sake of a constantly present legal security we all want, I would avoid convicting anyone before the legal system has agreed that there is a hoax and criminal.

I think it is really, really dangerous to start convicting people based on one comment by a 6 years old. He might very well be right, but who gave us the right to convict them.

I don't give him a pass at his jokes at all. All I am saying that we should focus our attention on bigger issues than if a comedian is committing adultery, or a politician commit adultery. His jokes about Palin are just disgraceful remarks from a desperate comedian trying to get the attention. By listening to them and even discussing them you give him the attention he wants. Bad publicity is almost more worth than good.

My main point is that we should stop giving this the attention at all including again discussing his comments about Palin's daughters. I really do not get why we have a discussion about adultery in the US or not, when people die in a war in Iraq and Afghanistan under questionable reasons that will affects us for a long time. Not to mention environmental issues that will probably destroy this earth if we do not start doing something about it.

The moment we do not give the attention to this, that is the moment we start moving towards something that will change this world. Whether Letterman is on CBS or not, couldn't affect this less. I for one do not watch his show in the first place. :-)

I am not sure I see him victimizing himself at all. It seems rather to me he is doing the exact opposite. I have to say his defense by being on the offense is a rather effective strategy to take the edge out of the power of the story. By bluntly going out and admitting the story is not there and he can clear away from any major brand or reputational damage.

Whether his act is despicable or not, I leave for others to discuss. I do think it is a private matter between him and his wife whether it is good or bad. Sleeping with your employees is not a very wise move of many reasons, but I do think he is far from alone here. One of the deceases of this world is to constantly point fingers at others and not cleaning up our own backyards.

One thing I do agree with Ross1776 is that there are far, far more important things we should focus on than whether David Letterman slept with his employees or not. To me that is is completely insignificant compared to our larger issues.

Haha You honestly think that this is part of some grand scheme of Washington to focus attention on adultery in an industry that probably is filled with it? That's just plain out silly. Thanks for making me laugh in the morning.

I do agree with you there are some interesting owner structures in media, but they have other means to express themselves than this.

I do agree that the namedropping is useless. Yet I am not sure it really does matter what the reasons for calling him anti-Christ are. The danger is when that kind of vocabulary gets used the real issues fades away into a pissing contest of who can be the more rhetorical one and use the bigger words. You see. It is not about rhetorics here. it is about actions and setting a scene where we stop with these silly labelings.

We have way too many serious issues at hand to focus no labels and analyzing who did what and where and so forth. It is really silly. Let us not drop the eye on the ball here.

You made me laugh out loud. Thanks! :-) How is posting a comment and opinion becoming anti-American?

I think your comment is more anti-American more than anything as you clearly haven't read the First Amendment. You clearly do not get the free part of free speech and that is the key and very, very central for true democracy.

The over-protectionism your comment breath is a central component of the issues we all around the world. When we finally start to not point fingers at others and look into ourselves what we can do to make this change, then we will have progress.

To me, it feels like religion too frequently these days becomes a sandbox where small-minded people play. Too many people disguise their beliefs under the warm cover of religion. In many ways I almost feel like religion is out-dated. Or maybe it is us to have in some weird way misunderstood the true meaning of religion.

I am yet to read a religious book that truly encourages degrading, violent behavior, yet somehow all the fundamentalists of this world seems to think exactly that. To me that is pretty sad and embarrassing that religion becomes the 'sacred' hideout for people scared and feared of change, diversity and community.

Maybe it is time we stop finding issues with everyone else. To quote the JFK: "And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man."

Take out America and put in anything and you have the real path for the future.

Awesome video! It is a very important topic that we so often tend to forget. One thing stayed with me in particular. The school kids. Their passion to find the answers. It brings out so much hope for the future to see kids finding the answers, questioning their surroundings and stepping up for their rights.

Yeah. I completely agree with you. Do not really believe that either.

It is a basic right for all global citizens, yet also a responsibility. It requires a lot from the whole global community as well as from each individual.

If it is a PR stunt, it feels a bit over the top. Don't really buy that argument.

The development of the blogosphere is really calling for a deep and intense discussion here. I really do believe it is important that we all start to reflect on what the meaning of freedom of speech really is and how it extends to blogosphere and the other citizen media.

Yeah, this situation is pretty sad. I guess it is time for all in the region to realize that they have tried the same tactics for over 60 years now and it hasn't worked. Maybe it is time for a new strategy. :-)

This is just tragic. It is even more tragic that the women do not dare to come forward and file charges. Just tragic.

    Who is Boone Pickens?

  • Posted By snail snail | about 1 year ago

Well based on how well he did last time, I am not sure that is a wise move. Maybe this will way up the fact that Obama has no experience with military. In a way this might make sense then.
