I know I'm risking an all-capitals reply by saying this..but you need to calm down, sharihodges. I agree that elements of that rating system are questionable, and you certainly seem to be an accomplished person/writer. But, in my opinion, you need to save this type of reactionary emotional writing for a personal blog or diary.
Citizen journalism is probably at its best when it uncovers something new in a constructive way. You did that with your piece applying John Stuart Mill to the Iran situation. I don't know what this is, but I'm glad there's some sort of credibility monitor so we can at least try to avoid articles like the above in the future. You're also certainly not helping your case by disparaging Sanjay's ethnic background (in the reply section of your previous column).
Thanks MsMystro! I'd like to add that Twitter is also part of this trend -- the ability to inform citizens through information. But it seems to me that YouTube is the more constructive of the two: most Twitter posts are simply links to YouTube videos.
And while Twitter is legitimate, there is something to be said for "seeing something with your own eyes." Of course, our eyes may deceive, but now I'm just talking in circles.
