Fauzia, I have not heard that any of the 7 men were foreigners who were charged Wednesday in Pakistan. I would be willing to correct the story if you can provide me with any credible source stating that any of the 7 charged were actually foreigners. Nonetheless, it has been determined that the planning, financing, and the operations support for these attacks did indeed originate in Pakistan and a support for these groups does need to end inside Pakistan. Far too often, the govt of Pakistan has turned the other cheek against these groups, since many in the army feel it is vital to have proxy groups available to fight the Indians in the event of an all out war with their neighbor...and that attitude of tolerating and in some cases encouraging these militant groups is what is now coming back to bite Pakistan in the you know where recently as you can see the level of violence and attacks inside the cvountry has grown tremendously as the militants pushback the army's offensives against them.
Thanks for this article Billie. We at PakistanisforPeace.com also are saddened at the horrendous acts allegedely committed by Major Hasan. I wrote about this today also and about how there is a war between the jihadi Islam and the moderate Islam many Muslims such as myself practice. These deranged individuals who think they are defending Islam and Muslims when they kill in the name of Islam, are the most lost souls roaming this planet. Again, thanks for this article and our prayers to all the victims and for all our brave service men and women. http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/4566443-fort-hood-tragedy-the-enemy-from-within
Thanks BorderExplorer. That really does mean alot for YOU to be saying this. I think Imran wrote elequently and passionately. Looking forward to your thoughts...
Thanks Borderexplorer for your concerns....the situation is very grim indeed inside Pakistan...I am witnessing it first hand being over here for a few weeks on vacation to visit my mom, dad and family....really makes you appreciate the life I lead back Stateside....
Thanks Fauzia. It was a personal account of my belief that despite everything, I see the United States and not Europe as more open still to immigrants and minorities of various faiths, including Muslim into the American fabric. We do not give enough credit to the US constitution for having perfected itself after guranteeing Civil Rights in the Act in 1969. Granted, we are not perfect, nor do we ever claim to be in the US. I always have spelled it Koran but have also seen Quran many times also. Thanks again for your comments, and keep writing and again congrats on your recent Pakistan Waterfalls story that was a smash hit at Allvoices. Take care and Keep Keeping the Peace! Salaam. MM
Wow. Eye opening Northsunmanitoba32. That Manitoban or really Canadian water is chock full of minerals! :) I had come across certain news on Blackwater the last few days and other info that I was pondering writing about, but your article is doing most of the work. Even more so, your above comment further sheds light on the attitude on those who actually make and enforce laws, such as our Congress. Very Nice!!! (in a Not so Borat way. colloquially speaking :P)
You are right. He is a very brave man, and I do hope he succeeds in this fight as the Christians of Pakistan desperately need justice and equal protection and rights in the society~ May he succeed in getting this law amended. Ameen.
Good Job with the article Candygirl. You gave some more facts and insight into this issue I also wrote about than before. Hope he stays safe while working on the very important issues of saving the religious minorities of Pakistan. Excellent article.
Beautiful Pictures. I am going to visit family in Pakistan next month. Will take a trip to some of these scenic places in your photos. Looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your comments Maryann. Being liberal myself politically, I never thought I would find myself agreeing with a conservative, but I do have to agree with some of what you say. I think every country has a right to protect itself, Israel included. I am of the belief that Israel has a right to exist and should be recognized by the Muslim countries. The terrorists of Al-Qaeda have always pointed to the Israel/Palestine conflict as their main reason for violence against the US, due to its support of Israel. I know its a very tall order, but if we could get peace in that region, many of the terrorists would not have the motivation for their terrorist activities. Now I am not naive enough to believe that all nefarious activitiy would cease in the world, but I do honestly believe we would go a long ways in stemming the violence that is seen over there and the tensions as a result.
I appreciate your article Delilah. However, these people were terrorists that happened to incorrectly follow Islam. When in fact, they were not true Muslims as a true Muslims does not kill and certainly do not commit suicide. Unfortunately, these idiots hijacked more than 4 planes 8 years ago. They hijacked a religion of almost a billion peaceful people. Nonetheless, you make some valid points, please check out my latest aritcle for some additional insights.
Thanks Fauzia. The arms race between India and Pakistan is heating up and no one is noticing. First the launch of the Indian nuclear submarine, and now Pakistan is increasing its nuclear warheads and modifying missiles. It is a dangerous situation and I fear no one is taking it seriously. Let's hope something is done to change this before it escalates into a conflict!
Firesisle, Somehow I think you might be a Republican based on your disdain for the Kennedys. No matter what side of the political divide you may be on, you have to admit that the Kennedy family's contributon to American civic life was huge.
