haha. Well that's how I saw it too, but I guess the idea is that there is an emotional attachment to the thing that is creating marital problems. Perhaps it could better be compared to alcoholism or some other unhealthy addiction, as opposed to cheating per se.

@ryanhartsock says, "Affairs are both emotional and physical. I say it could be classified as nothing less than an emotional affair."

@researchgoddess tweeted, "*a RESOUNDING YES from me*"

@danieljohnsonjr says, "I say yes."

In response to this question DeAnna posted on my Facebook wall: "Ahhhh yeah!!"

I wonder though, would the "I say no" folks be less vocal than the "yes, it is cheating" ones?

Well I think ultimately this type of craziness needs to be dealt with harshly. It is unconscionable that people should be allowed to pull the heartstrings of millions of people simply out of greed or self-interest. And to involve his children in the lie is beyond reproach.

You are right, my thoughts are strict but six year olds don't tend to lie. Research shows that at this age, most children haven't yet learned HOW to lie well. When the boy says they were suppose to "put on a show", that's exactly what he means, IMHO

I think these parents should be hung by their toes! It is sad what has happened, causing thousands of dollars in unnecessary searching, not to mention the concern of family, friends, neighbors and millions of viewers. These parents should have to pay for every dime this search cost!

Yes, I thought of that, but 6 year old boys are not exactly the best partners in world-wide scams. At some point during questioning after-the-fact, he'd have said "but Mommy told me to stay there" LOL

I think it a legit mistake, but the parents are idiots.

Haha.. well what you've alluded to here is based on individual choice and group theory. The idea that the larger the group, the less like that individuals in the group will cooperate in a way in which all parties win (also known as Prisoner's Dilemma only on a larger scale).

In order to "win" the climate wars, all countries, and all individuals within those countries, must not only work together, but figure out how to ensure that all will do the right thing despite economic payoffs or losses as a result of the "right choices" being made.

As you've shown here with your comment, doing this will be very difficult indeed!

Yes apparently he was so scared he would get in trouble for letting the balloon go he hid in a box in an attic somewhere. Dang. I just wish the parents had had more sense to have secured that thing a bit better than they obviously did. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20, so they say ;-)

Well first, it doesn't sound like you are for free media at all lamp-chop, but that is your right. And second, it is good to know that mainstream media never makes any mistakes, well given it is their professional jobs and all they do all day is stake out the "facts" and all (oh wait, that's not quite true either is it?). The fact of the matter is this, we're all human - whether professional journalist or citizen journalist. People make mistakes, and in this case the mistake was pretty minor. If citizen journalism isn't mired in the type of accuracy you are used to or desire, then maybe this isn't the site for you. If, on the other hand, you'd like to hear the news from perspectives other than paid-advertising-induced mainstream media news, then have an open mind, and let's all play nice together.

I think this would be a perfect solution. As I've argued here, civil unions are completely separate than what has been defined as a "marriage" in a religious sense. I know I'm hashing semantics here, but I think it is significant. If nothing else, it is significant because it would help gay rights come a LOT further, if we could qualify that a gay couple's "RIGHTS" are just as significant as heterosexual "RIGHTS", but that doesn't mean that one has to recognize the religious sanctity of it and still not get along with one another. After all that's what our country is founded upon! The ability to agree to disagree, and leaving moral and religious beliefs, and practices, to that individual and their own higher powers.

Yes, I think you are probably right, in the sense that newspaper will never completely be gone. I think though that local newspapers on every corner as a daily "must have" is likely near extinction. I think it will be different, in the future, and may end up being more like the Cabbage Patch dolls of yester-year --- everyone remembers what it was like when they were all the rage and the most popular toy on the market, and it is nice to have one today but they just aren't worth as much as they were back then.

Here's one thing that really bothers me. If she was SO worried about being "mocked" by comedians, why agree to go on Saturday Night Live?

If she's SO worried about being "misquoted" and "abused" by the media, why does she continue to put herself AND her family in harms way by taking interviews and spouting her crap?

I think the answer is directly in your article - she NEEDS the victim mentality to rally her base and hopefully spring some life into a campaign that, inevitably, is no doubt going to fail. I doubt she even gets re-elected Gov. in 2010 (though maybe that's just wishful thinking).
