it wud be,,they only talked of religion..never followed it

I agree but by the interview of Noor Sayed, the Taliban Commander, one can see that these attacks are happening in the strongholds of the militants and that increases the chances of militants being killed in them. They are not going to stop. Thats one thing for sure. We can just hope that they kill terrorists and not civilians.

I agree Fauzia..the army lost 12 men only while clearing the 120 foot tunnel..may Allah be the protector of our soldiers and guide them to victory..amen

yeah ur right Changez..hopefully, the army will be able to kill all the leadership as without it, they will return and again start recruiting new people..

how can we call ourselves muslims..one never hears such things happeinig in england or any european country.maybe they do but the culprits are caught and justice done...the fact of the matter is that the Europeans are better muslims than us..most of the people here in Pakistan would offer five times prayers and as soon as they get out of the mosque, most of them would be staring at passing women..im talking about 'most of the people'..its such a disgusting attitude of the people..the other day i was waiting in my car in a market in islamabad and i noticed all the man standing next to the footpath..i swear, when a woman passed, all of them were stealthily looking at her..what rubbush..Islam would tell us to keep our eyes low..Islam gives the most respect to women..and the irony is that such incidents go unnoticed in our society. @ Fauzia..plz dont expect anything from the government of Punjab..it almost doesnt exist.i wrote about it (read Punjab-rhetoric and Reality..http://www.thenews.com.pk/arc_news.asp?id=11).its useless..the chief minister might be a very sincere man but a very weak administrator..im so ashamed that such an incident has happened in a so called 'Islamic Republic'..all time low for me as a Pakistani :(

I thought I shudnt condole with you because of the feat achieved by Major Abid but i think words arent enough and lacking when it comes to describe ones thoughts for such souls..I owe my gratitude to you Mrs Naeem and to your sister..Maj Abid gave his life for a great cause..to protect our lives, our cities, our country, our way of life and most importantly our religion..he is a true hero for every young person in this country..when one takes a look at his picture, one can feel that kindness and courage reflecting on his face..our prayers are definitely with you and your family..the way he embraced shahadat while saving two soldiers just reflects what kind of a man he was..may allah grant victory to the army according to the wishes of Maj Abid Shaheed..my prayers are always with your family..

thnx changez..for the pictures and your thoughts :D These are acts of desperation.. the militants in Swat have been pushed against the wall..the army has killed more than 1500 militants in swat and has targetted Maulan Fazlullah (the head of the insurgency) five times...The Swat Taliban certainly lack the capacity now to carry out such attacks..Intercepts have been produced before media where Fazlullah has asked Baitullah Mehsud (Chief of the Pakistani Taliban) for help..since the army had surrounded swat from upper and lower Dir, Buner and Shangla, no reinforcements could be sent to Swat from Waziristan (base of Batiullah Mehsud)..I think Baitullah has taken the war to the cities of Pakistan to retaliate against the operation taking place in Swat..Baitullah's anger is evident from the fact that attcks on the Army have resumed in South Waziristan Agency since the operation in Swat started..these are attacks aimed at intimdating the government and the people and in order to force the Government to opt for a truce as it did before..

the attackers were actually trying to enter the heavily guraded and fortified residence of the Corps Commander NWFP who controls all the military stationed in the Frontier Province and the Tribal Areas

i actually like the picture u added fauzia :D ..its a wonderful picture..well..this morning..the search operation was completed..the person who was killed was an innocent civilian who was just passsing from the area and was caught in the crossfire :( ... the police and army continued the search operation till early morning and nabbed 7 suspected people from the area.however, the suspected car was chased by the police late in the night but because of no electricity in the area due to loadshedding, the police lost track of the car..two terrorists were also killed in the gunbattle..

very true..that is why i have my doubts whether they are sincere with the people.

but what about this RAW-KHAD nexus helping the enemy? It is strange that they havent been stopped..dont u think
Posted By mzohair mzohair | 5 months ago
ur rite..ever place is so unsafe..but i guess at times like these ur religion and faith cum in..it is our faith as muslims that ur time of death has already been decided b4 we were born..so u cant really change that..god is the ultimate protector..thats the only thing u can belive in these days and feel a little safe

first and foremost, my sincerest condolences to majdy and mustajab on captain omer zeb's shahadat..i never knew him but once i looked at his picture, i dont know, i felt this feeling of bravery and kindness around that man... we owe so much to these brave men.. they did this for us and to protect our way of life..no words can express my gratitude to them..im abt to go into university but when i look at these people, i always get second thoughts..and i suppose whenever i see a shaheed, i have seen that they were great men..and maybe thats why god elevates them to such a high status..my gratitude to majdy for her brother in laws shahadat.. @ citizenjournal...about the first report, it is policy of the Pakistan Army not to show any dead terrorist as their bodies are mostly mutiliated and second, if the army starts showing their bodies, what difference would that leave between one of the best institutions in the world and the worst barabarians on earth..so they dont show the dead bodies as a policy..about the determination of the army, i think the stories of these great men would tell you about the determination..the army has dropped 1121 Commandos of the Special Services Group to Peocher while more that 40000 troops (3 divisions) are taking part in the operation..its said a 'tent being captured'..In buner, the army has cleared the area from Ambela upto Sultanwas..In swat, they have cleared Matta,Khawazakhela, Kanju, Pir Baba, Ayub Bridge and have now entered Mingora..street to street fight continues..Gen Athar Abbas told newsmen they have destroyed six pickups bearing signs of Police 'Elite Force' and in them, dozens of men were killed wearing police uniforms..these men were the 'Shaheen Commandos' of that criminal 'Fazlullah' and he used to be so fond of them..they were the ones who had actually taken over Swat in end 2006..they can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGYEkgsXbhc all of them have been killed..so id say the army will eliminate them in the next few weeks..commander abu tariq and ibne amin have been killed while im sure ull be hearing of fazlullah, muslim, dauran and ibne aqeel getting killed soon..and if sumeone has their doubts, just look at the face of captain omer zeb shaheed..ull know wut these barbarians are up against..i know ill be posting 'Army declares Victory' in a few weeks time and also Fazlullah Killed..i just know it

The brother of Maj Abid Shaheed is Major Khalid who has also been injured in the Swat Operation and recieved a bullet in his left arm. And the brother of Capt Bilal Zafar Shaheed is Capt Zarrar Zafar, who also happens to be a commando in the Special Services Group just like his martyred brother. Their mother said that she'll sacrifice her second son also if she has to and she'd be even more proud. What fortitude and determination! Its truly inspiring. With mothers like this, who can say Pakistan can disintegrate or anyone can capture it. This is the last message Captain Bilal Zafar Shaheed sent to a friend of his before embracing Shahadat at 0500 am on 17 May :

“In the vollies of bullets, in the thunder of bombs, there are a few who just do not stop, knowing that they are surrounded by death, knowing that they could leave their wives widows and children orphans, but they just keep on moving because something is pumping in their hearts, and flowing through their veins known as honor, devotion, motivation. Death over surrender. This is why they say ‘Death before disgrace’. Pak Army Zindabad.”

Quiet frankly, I am not sure what is the purpose of this report. Some of the things reported here of such magnitude but its strange noone has read this previously in any newspaper or watched it on any channel. The ISPR is the Inter Service Public Relations and not the Military Intelligence as mentioned above. There is no way to verify what has been written but if true, shouldnt we be proud of the security forces that being outgunned and outnumbered, they are taking on these criminals with such valour and bravery only because of their love for their religion and country and they have cleared much of the area. As goes for the FC Jawans, the operation is being conducted cheifly by the army with some platoons of the FC moving with the army. It would be impossible for the Taliban to capture 300 FC men. Things just dont happen this way. In war, even a group of 5 soldiers is a big number. My memory goes back to Tiger Hill in Kargil where Subedar Sikandar along with the 130 men of 12 Northern Light Infantry Regiment was able to hold back a diviosn of the Indian Army for such a long period of time. And the part of it where it is said that the FC paid 500,000 per person to get back its 275 soldiers is also very unlikely, if the story is true in the first place. That means the FC paid (500,000 x 275) = 13,75,00,000 for the release which is just propostrous. To cut is short, such an incident of 300 soldiers being kidnapped and then such heavy money being paid doest go unnoticed and it is highly unlikey that such an incident ever happened. The Taliban would want to kill them as they have shown previously, not ask for money. Second, the claim that multiply the number of taliban killed by 2.5 and youll get the army jawans martyred doesnt seem to be right. About 1000 militants have been killed uptil now. If I am to believe this, it would mean that 2500 soldiers have been martyred? Is that what is being implied? That means a Brigade of the Army meaning that out of the three Brigades of the Army Division operating in Swat, they have already lost one brigade. Something youll never see in history of world militaries; not even in conventional war in such a short span of time. And if anyone wants to see the morale, you sould see the 46 stranded soldiers in the Mingora Grid Station who repulsed Taliban attacks for 8 days after these criminals laid siege to the Grid Station. You sould see how 4 unarmed commandos killed 8 Taliban in seconds, you should see the story of Lieutenant Safiullah, of Captain Bilal Zafar and many more. The morale is high due to the fact that the nation stands behind the army and that is what ultimately matters. It is not armies who win or lose, it is the nation.

it does seem likely to me too that the government sometimes exaggerates figuers a little tooo much which is useless. people know what a great job the army is doing and laying their lives in the process..the government need not show that more than 1000 militants have been killed..success should not be measured in how many killed but it should be seen if the objective was achieved..which is to clear the valley of the militants and establish the geovernment's control..and i guess boys will boys :D
