Marc Rasbury is a true Renaissance Man with a passion for photography particularly sports photojournalism. For 12 years he was a Design Engineer for Verizon and was responsible for designing and maintaining the company's infrastructure in New York City’s World Financial District.
Prior to working for Verizon, he was an Environmental Project Manager for one of New York City’s largest General Contractors-- Kreisler, Borg Florman, and Hygienetics Environmental.
Since leaving Verizon in 2008, he has been focusing on perfecting his passion for photography and writing. Being a former college basketball player and music lover, he has combined his passions and has birthed a new career as a sports photojournalist. In 2006, he started Rasbury Media Enterprises, a firm that specializes in sports and entertainment photojournalism.
As a photojournalist for the past twelve years, he has covered such events as the NBA Finals, the World Series, the U.S.T.A-U.S. Open, Championship Boxing and NFL games. He has had the opportunity to travel the world and photograph some fascinating events and locations. Two favorites are Brazil's Carnival and Africa's Gore Island.
He also photographed such musical icons as Patti LaBelle, George Clinton, Frankie Beverly and Maze, Chaka Khan, the Brothers Johnson, Whitney Houston, Jay-Z, Sean Combs, Biggie Smalls, Winton Marsalis, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Phyllis Hyman, Erykah Badu, the Isley Brothers and Dizzy Gillespie.
He has an extensive major news event photography collection including but not limited to the 1993- and 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, Nelson Mandela's visit to New York City and the 2008 Presidential Campaign.
Presently, Mr. Rasbury is the Sports Editor of the New York Beacon and the Harlem News Group. He is also a regular contributor for a number of other publications including New York Sportscene, AroundHarlem.com, and New York Trend.
His photographs have appeared in Jet Magazine, The New York Daily News, New York Sportscene, Sole Magazine, and Today’s Photographer in addition to The New York Beacon. In 2009 Marc Rasbury will launch ClubhouseCEO.com, a monthly e-magazine that focuses on the positive things that athletes and entertainers do with their money, and Your Front Row Seat, a weekly newsletter focusing on the events that he covers.
Some of Mr. Rasbury’s other interests include cooking, travel and reading (especially about other cultures).
Mr. Rasbury volunteers as a math and science tutor and teaches photography to youth at several New York City not-for-profit agencies including the New York & National Urban League, The New York City Mission Society, The New York, Children’s Aid Society, and The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce. He has also established and coached two AAU basketball teams in Harlem.
A native of Mt. Vernon, New York, Marc Rasbury currently resides in Harlem. He graduated from Governor Dummer Academy in Byfield, Massachusetts, the nation’s oldest prep school. He is also a proud graduate of Morehouse College and father of five-year-old Ajani Isaiah.
