I can not say if she is smart enough or not. I am just thinking as what she achieved in order for one to say "yes she is a role model". I am thinking at all those young people who leave under the influence of media and magazines, under the influence of someone almost perfect on the surface. Can she change someones life? What did she actually do to name her a role model? If we wear her clothes, jewellery, parfumes sun glasses does she become our role model?
It is very interesting that everybody is talking about the right of Israel to exist, the right of Jewish people, but nobody is saying anything about the rights of the Palestinians. Nothing about the construction of the separation WALL (against international law, U.N and basic human rights), no words about the Israeli army cutting the olive trees from Palestinian farms, nothing about the Palestinians who have to leave their homes because their construction is considered illegal, nothing about the people from Gaza trapped within the territory. Aren't we forgetting something? There are people trappede in all these actions. What are their rights? When are their rights going to be respected?
It is the U.N's Security Council who imposed the sanctions, but the North Korean blames the U.S because the U.S. can afford to make alone tough declarations on any other country. It is a world power and its influence over several international organizations makes the other place the blame mainly on the U.S. I personally believe it is the entire international community to blame, the main political actors for not taking a serious stand against leaders that might endanger our security worldwide.
What I meant with the last line is the following:
-Should we/ should the whole international community accept the big egos of some - should we , or our leaders accept that North Korea is actually becoming a nuclear power, driven by the ego and ambitions of its leaders
-or are some monopolizing whatever they have achieved by trying to undo what they have already done- those who have achieved something in this context would be the countries who already have nuclear weapons (US, Russia, India, etc.) that are very interested in a disarmament process
It just needs a little reading between the lines, but I guess you were too much concerned in finding my grammar mistakes. By the way thank you for those you have mentioned, speed has taken its toll (I mean I wrote too fast and did not pay attention- hope this line is intelligible)
1947 is the moment in time when U.N. members voted for the plan of separating the territory into separate Jewish and Arab states. After the 1948 Arab-Israeli war the area allocated to the Palestinian Arabs and the international zone of Jerusalem got occupied by Israel and the neighboring Arab states. After 1967 Israel captured the West Bank (including East Jerusalem),but keep in mind that ONLY AFTER 1960 the term as PALESTINE as a separate state started to be used in political contexts. Only in 1988 came the proclamation of a State of Palestine with defined borders (based on the UN Res.242 and 383).
Anyway, as I said, I think the main problem is ignoring the international organisations and their Resolutions and directives. The problem and the conflict is been going on for too many years and a going back to the initial status, when all the land was under the British mandate, it is not possible. The actions and the breaking of the rules have to be stopped now (settlements, the wall, the discriminations, the fights, the lack of help and resources for the civilians). I do understand that from a Palestinian point of view the problem of the land is more than frustrating and a matter of life and death but the solution has to come from a high level. Someone has to say STOP, play by the rules. But the process remains difficult and the actors involved in it (or their purposs) are maybe too many or too strong.
correct, it is not actually about prosecuting the ones who actually used the torture but the ones who approved using it and the ones who came up with some legal frame as an excuse for using torture. Even so, I do not see the reason for extempting those who actually used the torture techniques from charges.
Actually the president's comments regarding the interogation techiques came after Dick Cheney criticised the President's decision to release the memos. According to Cheney the US had obtained valuable information from using such methods and he knows what consequences they brought to the country. According to him: "One of the things that I find a little bit disturbing about this recent disclosure is they put out the legal memos, the memos that the CIA got from the Office of Legal Counsel, but they didn't put out the memos that showed the success of the effort"
Actually Mc'Donalds was on the list with healtiest fast food restaurants. It soounds unbelieveble but yes, it is considered a healthy fast food chain. There was a list, I wrote a report about it a while ago.
the quote actually exists in Das Kapital...so I guess it is not supposed, and the fact that it is a hoax, it just expresses the ideas of a person regarding economy, capitalism and communism. It does not necessarily mean that a failuare of capitalism or within would actually lead to communism. We have already experienced that in some parts of the world.
to achieve peace in this region is a very difficult task. There are so many interests in keeping the situation unstable, there are so many lobby groups whose influence is very strong and they are very well positioned. The media also plays an important role. People around the world are not exactly aware of what is going on there because of the media, because of the news and the views that are being promoted
France is already a member state of NATO. The issue is about France rejoining the military comand of NATO. NATO allows its member countries the freedom to choose if they wish to take part in alliance missions, and states do not typically have troops permanently under its command. France has increased its involvement in the alliance in recent years and has a large force in Afghanistan. IN 1966 the former french president Charles de Gaulle pulled France out of Nato's military command.
And who should held him responsible for what he said?(given the contexts and the differences that we all already know there are between the Israeli and the Palestinians?) It is a good question...let us put it this way: What does Israel do to the Palestinians and how come it gets away with it?
The plane was coming from Istanbul, Turkey. So far it seems that the plane it lost speed all of the sudden. Some of the passengers say that there was no warning from the cockpit. The weather at the airport at the time of the crash was cloudy with a slight drizzle but the visibility was clear at about 5,000 yards.
The problem is that the International Law is not assumed entirely by the parties involved in this issue. The frame of rules and regulations is still fragile and not entirely obvious. The International Community and the International Organizations should take a serious stand and the states as actors on the international agenda should follow the same rules. But someone should be really counting and applying the rules when the states are following their own interests only, at any cost.
