No matter what is going on in the political world, the votes need to be counted. Our country is founded on our right to and responsibility to vote. Enough people let that right slide by them. Those who have taken the time to do their civic duty have a right to know that their time and energy matters.

Well - I am impressed. You called it pretty darn close. As of now (9:40pm Arizona time), it is 338 to 155 in favor of Barack Obama, our 44th president.

I too was very impressed with McCain's concession speech. It was very noble, very generous, and very heartfelt. I especially appreciated that he called the boo-ers in the audience on their bad manners.

NBC just announced that Bush has called and congratulated Obama as well. That shows more grace than I thought he had too.

Today, I am proud to be an American.

Thanks for the report. I agree - I thought it was illegal for them to call on election day unless it was get out the vote calls. That said, we have already had three of them here.

Having just finished a similar conversation with my fatherm I feel for you. He firmly believes the lies about the "Obama tax increases" and firmly believes that Obama is going to take away all his retirement savings.

My mother, on the otherhand, is a firm Obama supporter. Having lived in IL for many years, she has seen what he can do and what he has done. She started pushing Obama as the candidate of choice when he first announced he was going to run.

They have been divorced for over 20 years. The difference in how they are looking at this election has me really wondering: What have we all come to when the divide between one side and the other is so wide? How are we to come together to handle the economic crisis, the wars, health care, and the other major issues after election day is over? No matter who wins, families like mine will have major damage done to them.

It seems to this rambling commenter that America has lost the ability to meet in the middle. We started losing the ability two decades ago and it has only gotten worse. I am afraid that this election the splits will be even deeper than in the past.

I am surprised that they found him guilty. I was dreading today as I was afraid that the jury would come back as a hung jury. When they did come back with a decision, I was glad to see it.

Having been judged by a jury of his peers, I hope that the state and national Republican party members don't push either Bush or Palin to pardon him or commute his sentence. He needs to do time for what he did.

It seems that the "Bridge from nowhere" has some more planks in it today. Reports here on allvoices show her thinking about a run for the pres in 2012.

It was good to see an episode of SNL where the actors were back in form. It has been so long since I had a reason to watch it - it used to be such a great show.

Ah well - at least Sarah Palin has done some good for the country!
