Yes, I had heard this story - and it has also been proved (ironically) that humans have given hogs (yes, pigs) H1N1 flu. Just think how upset that Swine is that contracted a virus from a human....

Very informative...thank you! There are many conferences throughout the US are unadvertised. This is a welcome addition.

I am far from confused, ACRScout. Yes, there is a vast difference in what is described as a Republican and a Conservative in this discussion. The Conservative that is being described by Doug Hoffman aligns much closer to Sarah Palin's ideals of the successionists in the Alaskan political scene.

Palin claims "blurring of the lines" as the reason for supporting Doug Hoffman over Scozzafava invoking (roughly) the thoughts of Ronald Reagan. All that is happening in the NY Race is a splitting of the vote that will weaken the representation of the district.

Pollard, even Fox News is not firmly supporting of what Ms. Palin has said and done...take the Doug Hoffman race for the House seat in upstate New York against the firmly entrenched Republican candidate, Republican State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava.

I am not twisting data - I still maintain polls are fluid - it is the voters that will have their say. I am just evaluating the information available. That information tells my gut to watch Palin - that's all...

At least there are enough media pundits and venues to satisfy all beliefs. I like to hear what those who do not think like me are saying...makes me think (even when I disagree with them!)

"They" meaning liberals? It is interesting how "us" and "them" change meanings depending on the political landscape. Not long ago, the Republicans were doing the same things to former President Clinton. Times change, but attitudes remain.

    Thanks for stopping by!

Oh Border! The Wall Street Journal? What bias! (note the sarcasm in my comment...not to be taken literally!)

Fortunately, one of the most believable polls happened last November...and whichever politicians choose to put themselves out there again, that polling will speak again.

Personally, I listen to all avenues (Fox, CNN, MSNBC) and attempt to grasp the bigger picture. Everytime one is labeled it closes minds. Unfortuantely, some of the politicians just want to straddle the labels and be everything... The mid-term elections should be entertaining if not informative.

Redhanded, what do any of us know of the schedules and dealings of those we have elected? If we knew actually the hours worked (both the incredibly large AND small) would be find it "acceptable"? A Senator has responsibilities of voting and reseaching and representing his/her constiuents while a Governor has the day-to-day management of an entire state.

Palin is the one who made it clear her first priority was to the good citizens of Alaska - why then would she simply walk away?

Yes, she absolutely does stay in the media.

Just as in any good story, there are people on both sides of the fence. You tell me that your "friends and relatives who live there disagree" and mine tell me another story. Also, in following the Anchorage Daily News, there comes a more full story in the daily dealings of Alaska politics.

I find it extremely interesting that those who are attempting to say the "liberals" are flogging a dead horse have done nonetheless to past candidates and political situations when it suited their fancy.

Sarah Palin will have her 15 minutes of fame - and she will take portions of the Republican Party with her in a fireball. For now, it is a good lesson for all future politicians to take note...watch that many will be tracking your motives and ideals.

Redhanded, thanks for your input. I will however totally disagree with you. I do not begrudge Ms. Palin the money she will receive from her book deal. The problem is much deeper. She has been manipulating those around her from the beginning, and I believe she will continue. She states one thing, then does another. She claims to have high regard for the people of Alaska, and then runs roughshod over them, leaving them without fulfilling the term she campaigned for and accepted.

Sarah Palin will not be an asset to the Republican Party - in fact, with her aligning with the "Conservative Party" she is drawing recognition and notarity to an up and coming third party that will weaken the Republican Party similar to the Ross Perot scenario.

Am I jealous? Not at all. Am I concerned for my country and the political system? Absolutely!

You are correct, I need not go all the way to Alaska. For looking at unusual deeds, I need only look at budgetary crises in Iowa. I shall continue to comment on such situations. Thanks for stopping by, pollard!

Unfortunately, it appears that Ms. Palin finds herself above the fray. Hopefully the conservatives will see through her facade...

It truly amazes me that there is such uproar over the natural occurance of a woman breast feeding. In a small town near Iowa City, IA (West Branch) there was an incredible bally-hoo over a woman breast feeding her baby in an eating establishment. She was told to go to the rest room or leave if she was going to do such a thing in public. (There was no nudity involved-she was covering with a blanket.)

It got even stranger when some of us (me included) challenged their "policy" as the week before, the same establishment held a "wet t-shirt contest". Needless to say, they are no longer in business - too much bad publicity!

Yes, Freespirit, President Obama has an obligation to take a lead in the global concern regarding the environment. This is why the December event in Copenhagen is so important and vital to the discussion that must happen. We are all inter-connected at this point - environmentally, economically, and effectively.

Thanks for stopping by to comment.

    Hello, my friend,

Have you visited the 350.org website? They are claiming over 5000 events worldwide - not just the USA. I searched for event listings in both China and India, finding 300+ sites holding events in both of the countries you specifically referenced.

Just as in the USA, grass route movements create an educational awareness in an area or community. I believe there are caring global citizens in countries throughout the world who wish to stimulate and effect change.

The United States has its own list of litany of ways we are failing and lacking in "green" ways. I am pleased to see the interest and involvement generated by 350.org.

Kanye West seems to have issues with self-control - documented in this scuffle, many others, and his bashing of Taylor Swift at the awards presentation. Perhaps Kanye could take a few lessons from the young Ms. Swift in decorum and poise.
