Amir Jahangir is a strategic communication & media professional. Honoured as the Young Global Leader for 2010 by the World Economic Forum for his work on initiatives to improve the state of media and to integrate it with the development issues concerning Pakistan. The Festival of Media, Valencia, Spain ranked him among the top 10 media personalities of the world. Most recently he was the CEO for Jaag Broadcasting Systems Pvt. Ltd., which runs SAMAA TV, the first private satellite news channel providing live transmission simultaneously from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar and Dubai. He is also the Program Advisor to the VINNOVA-Stanford Research Center of Innovation Journalism at the Stanford University, on Journalism and Media in Pakistan The various initiatives of Jahangir has earned him and the organizations he has worked for/with numerous awards, both at national as well as international forums. Earlier Jahangir has been part of the launch team of the Competitiveness Support Fund, a joint initiative of USAID and the Govt. of Pakistan. He worked on the mid-to long-term media development strategy for Pakistan as incharge of the Innovation Journalism Program. Jahangir also managed Pakistan's partnership with the Global Competitiveness Network of the World Economic Forum and earned the title of the most innovative strategist for developing a comprehensive strategy for collecting soft data on Pakistan. He was also on the forefront of the media industry in Pakistan as the CEO for Telebiz. He was also the founding CEO of Vision Network Television Limited, which launched the first internationally branded business and economic news channel CNBC Pakistan. Amir has been associated with various research & consultancy firms as a strategic communications consultant and as an analyst on sectors including telecom, media, information communication technology and other socio-economic issues.
