Recession, after all, is already here and everyone is worried about the immediate future. We can Save the Planet and Rescue the Economy at the Same Time. Maybe financial crisis means time has come for reinforce our concern about environment. The world can't afforded evils of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and threats to our environment: during the past century, the world population has tripled, and water use has increased six-fold. These changes have come at great environmental cost: half the wetlands have disappeared during the 20th century, some rivers don't reach the sea anymore, 20% of freshwater fish are endangered. Thales (Greek philosopher) said, "Water is the first principal of all things." Thales believed that everything depended on water... in ancient Greece, people honored water.
    Most of the world's great civilizations growing up alongrivers... today, water is a life-or-death issue in many parts of the worldThe World Health Organizations says that about 5 million people die each year from poor drinking waterm poor sanitation, or a dirty home envirnment - often resulting from water shortage.
    Environmental consequences also entail social and economic costs. currently, global markets move the most polluting industries to the developing countries, usually near cities where population growth and informal settlements already put a lot of pressure on water resources.
