Then came the day of 9/11 catastrophe. Four aircrafts took off from the American airports. Two of them collided with the World Trade Center, third fell on the Pentagon and the last one which was heading towards the White House was taken down much before reaching there. Mujahideen of Syed Qutb shook the USA from its roots. This operation was totally unexpected and uncalled for, for Hisbollah, Iraq and Iran therefore these three instantly separated from Al-Qaida. On 14th September, Bush regarded these attacks as the ‘crusades’. At that time , six muslim countries Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Saudi Arab and Pakistan, were the targets of USA. World entered a new phase after 9/11. Neocons advanced and made president Bush attack Islamic world. They attacked on Afghanistan first and totally destroyed it. Iraq was next. The only man in Bush administration who was against these attacks was Colin Powell. He even opposed Neocons in cabinet meeting. Neocons turned against him and a cold war started again among them. In those days, Colin Powell gave out a few statements concerning the political situation of gulf, which were totally non-coherent with the American policy. Neocons exploited this and as a result Colin Powell announced of not being a part of the cabinet in Bush’s 2nd term. Bush took Powell’s resignation on Novemeber 15, 2004 and appointed Condolezza Rice as the foreign minister, as his replacement. Soon after that, the sole control of America went...
