I've been surprised by life, in good and bad ways. I have an amazing husband and an unfortunate brain tumor. I am a musician, writer, and teacher living simply on Massachusetts' gorgeous Gold Coast.
Current favorites: Seasonal specials on TV, spicy-smelling candles, catching up with old friends.
Thanks birdpond, those are very good points. Usually shelters will raise these and other points at the time of adoption to make sure the animal is going to a good home - they don't want to see that animal on the street or on their doorstep again! However, thinking of these things in advance is very useful for everyone's sake. Another thought about avoiding holiday - or any 'hustle and bustle'. Animals in new situations are better off contained at first, to a certain area of the house for example. They are nervous, and have plenty of new things to explore. You can let them out with supervision. Of course make sure they have toys, food, water, and that they have a place to go to the 'bathroom', and visit them very regularly. Again, thanks for your thoughtful comment.
Thanks everyone! You know, I do have my pop-up blocker on. The other thing that has been happening is that when I am waiting for a page to load a sketchy-type ad will appear. But it didn't happen today! Maybe it was temporary :)
So glad to be of help! Yes, though I have not studied the link between insomnia and diabetes myself, it seems likely due to the link with obesity. You're also more likely to reach for 'fast energy' like sugars and white carbs when tired, which could lead to diabetes if it became a regular pattern.
That's a good point too! At least you can choose to be Independent and then pick which party to vote in the primaries for. Still, it is true that it's built right into our voting system.
I really enjoyed reading this. I'm so tired of people trying to fit a mold that isn't right for them. Your article actually popped up as 'similar' to mine on my page, though I have a different take. Here's the link if you're interested. http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/4513045-lets-all-label-each-other
