The problem is that the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy is about sexuality, because it implies that all military personnel are heterosexual. It is pure discrimination based on sexual preference.
I think that Bill Clinton intended it as a protection measure for homosexuals in the military but it evolved into a way to legally discriminate against people.
There is an added bonus though, if they ever initiate the draft again, I'm showing up to the draft office in a dress and flirting with the recruitment officers! =)
I bet he's got some new material and - like every other decent entertainer in America - he has to work out his show in Europe first. But that's just a guess.
I don't think she looks horrible, but she certainly has not gotten her dancer's body back. And that, unfortunately, was her strongest weapon - her ability to dance and entertain.
Listenup: thank you for posting this story. I've been vaguely following it, but honestly, until the whole mess is figured out, I really don't care about either of them. Their job is to entertain and right now, neither are being very good at it.
But it was very interesting to see some fan comments, which makes me wonder: whatever happened to intelligent dignity?
1) No one should be involved in this situation besides Chris Brown, Robyn Fenty and the police.
2) Glorifying abuse (either Chris hitting Rihanna or Rihanna hitting Chris) is horrible. Have these "people" been taught that using physical violence against other people is a good thing?
3) While violence seems to be supported - education is obviously not. Some may find this amusing, but there is nothing funny for 10th grade students to ACTUALLY believe that "great" is spelled with a numeral or "are" and "you" are written with one letter. I'm not joking, I've met some that do.
I'm not an etiquette freak - I promise. It just seems like the norm is now to be involved in other people's business. We get so caught up in everyone else's piteous misadventures that we forget to live our own lives - and I blame the media. I'm a journalist and I love my industry (usually), but no one ever said I couldn't be a little self-deprecating - right?
It's like showing up to a funeral of a complete stranger and bawling your eyes out and proclaiming how much you'll miss them. Creepy, weird and sick right? Supporting accused spouse batterers is no different.
But on the other hand, should Phelps have received anything, even a slap-on-the-wrist, from the United States Swimming Committee? I mean, he might have violated their code of ethics. But if he didn't, they shouldn't even be involved in "punishing" Phelps at all.
And after reading some of the stories quoting the South Carolina police, it really just seems like they wanted to take down a prize bounty and solidify their careers.
Honestly, it would just be nice if people stopped making a big deal about it because I have the strangest feeling that the people who actually care probably toked up when they were 23 too.
Wow. Sounds like a serious power trip (of Hitler proportion).
I agree that bringing attention to the Holocaust is always a good thing. People - especially children - need to understand the gravity of this horrific world event.
And in today's educational environment, it is getting harder to inspire children to learn. But this teacher did not go about inspiring in a correct way. Honestly, it sounds like she wanted to take a pot-shot at millions of victims and survivors.
I wonder what other "activities" she was planning? Baking yamaka-wearing gingerbread men perhaps?
EEK! homonym: thank you so much for pointing that out to me. I'm so embarrassed! My deepest apologies. I meant the kids brought drugs not female protagonists. =)
I don't know if he should spend his entire life in prison, but he definitely doesn't deserve to die a "peaceful" death of overdose. I think he needs to suffer for his crime.
