Well they don't quite converge at The North Pole but close enough. The Annual World Santa Claus Congress is currently in progress in a Danish amusement park. It spans 3 days and is the 51st instance of the activity.

The proud participants go by a variety of relevant names. You can rub shoulders with St Nick, Papa Noel or Sinterklaas but they all claim to be Santas at heart. While the initial objective of the gathering was to entertain children, the event has evolved into a formal gathering for Santa Claus incarnations from shopping malls and stores around the world ready to share tales of climbing down chimneys and reindeer tips.

This year's conference has drawn an impressive 136 red-clad delegates. They come from all over the world, largely from Scandinavia but even Russia, Japan and the United States. Some of the varied activities include a bicycle parade, dancing with Hula Hoops and a brave dip in the freezing Copenhagen harbor. Hopefully these ruddy cheeked participants have the blubber and warm clothing to make that feel like just a dip in the pool.
