Who will be the Prime Minister of Pakistan?

It is three days after the election and we still don’t know who will be the Prime Minister. It will be someone from the PPP (Benazir’s party).  Zardari (Benazir’s husband) cannot be the Prime Minster, as he did not run during the election for the seat in the Assembly, neither did Nawaz Sherif, the leader of PML-N.  Both Zardari and Nawaz Sherif are Leaders of their perspective parties but cannot be prime minster.

What I am hearing on the street is that there will be an interim Prime Minster for the next three months. It will give time to some of the elected party officials to resign and re-hold elections in their area and let Zardari, or Nawaz Sherif win a seat in the assembly, before they can be made the Prime Minister.

There are several names that are being thrown around for the interim Prime Minister including Amin Fahim from PPP and Aitzaz Ahsan (a lawyer, who supports the Judiciary)…..but Aitzaz Ahsan did not run during the election either and has to use the 3 month reelection process!

It may take 3 months before we know who is the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
