Rumors abound that the web giant is looking to acquire Digg.com, a social media site where users upload and rate web content. Google hopes lessons learned from Digg will boost Google News, which currently brings in no revenue to the company.

They could. Trends.Google is pretty good stuff though. Why don't they just leverage some of those well paid engineers to do some work...
