Apple Overtakes Google

The success of iPhone has fueled a huge surge in Apple's share price unseating Google to become the most valued company in Silicon Valley. By close of trading last week, Apple's market cap moved up to $158.8bn slightly ahead of Google's $157.2bn.

Apple's share price surge has been fueled by the popularity of the iPhone. People are still lining up to get their hands on the most prized phone. Apple has leapfrogged its competition repeatedly with its distinctive, easy-to-use designs-iMac, iPod and phone continue to be the favorites.

Google was the darling of Wall Street but has waned due to the decline of the online advertising as a result of the economy. Also, investors are questioning Google's ability to produce any profit from its acquisition of YouTube.

Singapore's Floating Football Pitch

The human race continues to purchase land at increasing rates--worried that someday very little will be left and ownership will be tied to wealth. At this rate we will have to find alternative options like building floating cities. In Singapore they have already started. They have built the ‘Marina Bay Floating Stadium.' The floating stadium is currently carrying the title of ‘the world's largest' and, although the 30′000 capacity seating area is housed on land, the ‘pitch' itself does in fact sit on the water whilst being sturdy enough to bear the weight of 9′000 people and 3 much-needed military tanks before starting to sink, a fact which itself is surely an excellent deterrent to any would-be pitch invaders. Patients are free from cancer after immune-boost treatment

Cancer patients have been left free of the disease after being treated with a new drug which harnesses the power of their own immune cells.

Four of 38 patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma have seen the disease complete regressions following treatment, while five others saw reductions of 50 per cent in their tumours.

The drug, which could prove cheaper than other therapies that try to achieve the same effect with cells, works by activating the body's own defences to attack the cancer.

BURGER KING Employee caught taking bath -- in restaurant sink!

Some workers at Burger King in Greene Country (Ohio) are in big trouble after one of their employees decided to take a bubble bath in the restaurant sink.
They posted a four-minute video on Myspace. The employee in the video describes himself as Mr. Unstable while he sits naked bathing in a large stainless sink while other employees watch.

The video has been circulating over the Internet since yesterday. One of people who saw the video was Green County Health Commissioner, Mark McDonnell. "My first thought was oh my god," said McDonnell.

McDonnell immediately dispatched his staff to the location to investigate the health code violation. He said the restaurant was aware of the incident and had already taken steps to clean up, including disposing of all the utensils and sanitizing the sink twice.

All of the employees involved were fired.

No evidence to show 'organic food has more nutritional content

A new research at the University of Copenhagen has shown that there is no evidence to support the view that organic food is better than food grown with the use of pesticides and chemicals.

Shoppers pay more than a third more for organic food in the belief that it has more nutritional content than food grown with pesticides and chemicals.

However, the new research by Dr Susanne Bugel and colleagues, from the Department of Human Nutrition, shows that there is no clear evidence to support this belief.

In the first study ever to examine the retention of minerals and trace elements, animals were fed a diet consisting of crops grown using three different cultivation methods in two seasons.

Eddie Ortiz Jr. and his father have been living on a street corner since Saturday morning-waiting for sneakers.

Not just any sneakers, but a pair designed by Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, drummer for the Grammy-winning hip-hop band, The Roots.

Thompson designed the $225 red, green and gold Air Force 1 sneakers as part of the shoe company's 1World collection, which will feature 18 designs over eight months.

The sneakers are being released Tuesday at the Ubiq footwear store in downtown Philadelphia. By late Monday morning, 26 people had lined up in a makeshift sidewalk campsite.

Anorexia not just a girls' problem, now men are falling prey

Anorexia or eating disorder usually associated with teenage girls is increasingly spreading in epidemic proportion among men seeking to build 'an ideal body'.
According to a new survey in Britain, the number of men being treated for this lifestyle disease has gone up by 67 percent in the past five years, the Daily Mail has reported.

Though official figures show that only 32 percent, or 1,700 men have received treatment for anorexia in the past year, experts say the figure is just the tip of the iceberg, the newspaper said.

The number of children less than 14 years of age under treatment rose by 26 percent from 202 in 2001-02 to 255 during the past year, according to the figures released by the Department of Health.

Some areas are worse affected than others.

In Durham the number of anorexics being treated at hospitals has rocketed by 360 percent, in southeast London the figure has risen by 246 percent and in Yorkshire, by 139 percent.

Stressing that most of the cases go unreported, experts claim that male anorexia has become "an unrecognised spiralling epidemic as men as well as women are bombarded with images of the ideal body".

If you plan on traveling to Lynwood, Chicago, be careful. If you get caught wearing sagging pants than most likely you would be fined $25. The leaders have passed an ordinance that would levy $25 against anyone showing three inches or more of their underwear in public settings.

Eugene Williams is the mayor of Lynwood who feels young people running around town half-dressed showing their underwear keeps major retailers and economic development away.

The American Civil Liberties Union says the new ordinance targets men of color.

Live Fish Cures Asthma and Respiratory Problems?

Every year, the Bathini Goud brothers from Hyderabad draw thousands to their camp to take part in the administering of the fish medicine, which they believe cures them of asthma and respiratory problems.

‘Germ warfare’ fear over African monkeys taken to Iran

Hundreds of endangered monkeys are being taken from the African bush and sent to a "secretive" laboratory in Iran for scientific experiments.

An undercover inquiry by The Sunday Times has revealed that wild monkeys, which are banned from experiments in Britain, are being freely supplied in large numbers to laboratories in other parts of the world. All will undergo invasive and maybe painful experiments leading ultimately to their death.

One Tanzanian dealer, Nazir Manji, who runs African Primates, an animal-supplying company based in Dar es Salaam, said that in recent years he had been selling up to 4,000 vervet monkeys a year to laboratories, charging about £60 each.

Vervets are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites). Despite this they are being routinely caught and sold to any buyer prepared to pay.

The self-contained 'Lilypad' city will be home to around 50,000 'climate refugees' from the worst hit areas - including London.

Latest research predicts that sea levels could rise by up to 88cm - nearly 3ft - by the year 2100, putting many islands in the Pacific Ocean in danger.

Say what? According to an AFP piece published on Tuesday, a Japanese firm is offering couples the opportunity to get married in space. Yes, space.

Here's the drill: Pay 2.3 million dollars, and you and your loved one will be blasted sixty miles into the sky. When you reach your destination, you'll be able to exchange your vows in zero gravity conditions, in the presence of three other persons.

Unfortunately, the view is not supposed to be that great. You'll be able to see the outline of the earth, but you won't be high enough to see much more than that.

Sound like a great way to make money? Yes. But what an uneventful way to get married. Just about the only benefit is how it limits the amount of people you'd be forced to invite to your ceremony.

One pro-marijuana group is calling on the government to allow marijuana in smoking lounges at airports across the country.

Cigarette smoking at Denver International Airport and other airports across the country is restricted to smoking lounges.

Members of the Denver-based organization Safer Alternative for Enjoyable Recreation (SAFER) will ask the government Tuesday to allow pot in airport smoking lounges.

Italian Architect Poised To Build 80-Story Tower With Revolving Floors Powered By Wind Turbines...

An Italian architect said he is poised to start construction on a new skyscraper in Dubai that will be "the world's first building in motion," an 80-story tower with revolving floors that give it an ever-shifting shape.

The spinning floors, hung like rings around an immobile cement core, would offer residents a constantly changing view of the Persian Gulf and the city's futuristic skyline.

A few penthouse villas would spin on command using a voice-activated computer. The motion of the rest of the building would be choreographed in patterns that could be altered over time.

Millionaires club gets bigger, members richer

The world's millionaires club is getting bigger -- and its members decidedly richer.

The number of people around the globe with at least $1 million in assets swelled by 6 percent last year to 10.1 million, according to the 12th annual World Wealth Report released Tuesday by Merrill Lynch & Co. and Capgemini Group, a consulting firm.

That means an additional 600,000 people became millionaires or richer even as problems tied to the U.S. credit crisis spread in the second half of the year.

The combined wealth of the millionaires' club meanwhile grew 9.4 percent to $40.7 trillion. Their average wealth, which didn't include primary homes, surpassed $4 million for the first time.

The criticism, to be aired Tuesday on Dobson's Focus on the Family radio program, comes shortly after an Obama aide suggested a meeting at the organization's headquarters here, said Tom Minnery, senior vice president for government and public policy at Focus on the Family.

Hats banned from Yorkshire pubs over CCTV fears
