Person Biography:(required) Chidambaram Palaniappan (born 16 September 1945) is an Indian politician with the Indian National Congress and the current Union Minister of Finance of the Republic of India. Previously he has served as Finance Minister of India from May 2004 to November 2008. However, after the resignation of Shivraj Patil,in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks in November, 2008, Chidambaram was made the Home Affairs Minister. After a three and a half year stint as Home Minister, Chidambaram was reappointed Union Minister of Finance after Manmohan Singh.
