Person Biography:(required) <p> <p><strong>Nicole Mary Kidman </strong>was born June 20, 1967 in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Anthony and Janelle Kidman, the father of who was a biochemist and clinical psychologist and the mother a nursing instructor, and is a dual American-Australian citizen, actress, spokes-model and humanitarian. Nicole's first love was ballet, but she took up mime and drama as well. In her teen years, acting became her refuge. Kidman eventually dropped out of high school to pursue her dream where she broke into film at age 16 when she landed a role in the Australian holiday favorite, Bush Christmas</p> <p>Kidman's breakthrough came six years after her debut in Bush Christmas and was in the 1989 thriller <em>Dead Calm</em>. “Her performances in films such as <em>To Die For</em> (1995), <em>Moulin Rouge!</em> (2001), and <em>Rabbit Hole</em> (2010), received critical acclaim, and her performance in <em>The Hours</em> (2002) brought her an Academy Award for Best Actress, a BAFTA Award and a Golden Globe Award.” Other films include <em>Days of Thunder</em> (1990), <em>Batman Forever</em> (1995), <em>The Others</em> (2001), <em>Cold Mountain</em> (2003), <em>The Interpreter</em> (2005) and <em>Australia</em> (2008), among others. Kidman received her star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 2003 and in 2006 was the highest-paid actress in the film industry.</p> <p>Aside from the entertainment industry, Kidman has also been a Goodwill Ambassador for UNIFEM since 2006. In 2006, Kidman was made a Companion of the Order of Australia, Australia's highest civilian honour.</p> <p>Nicole Kidman is also quite famous for her marriage to Tom Cruise. Although she and Cruise never had biological childrne, they adopted two children: Isabella Jane (born in 1993) and Connor Antony (born 1995). Despite their rock-solid image, the couple announced in early 2001 that they were separating due to career conflicts. Her marriage to Cruise ended mid-summer of 2001.</p> </p>
