Born on 1 January 1992 in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, Wilshere started to play football for The Priory School Football team at the age of 7. He then joined the youth side of Luton Town for two months before moving to Arsenal academy at the age of nine.
Under the guidance of Arsene Wenger, Wilshere developed into a high quality versatile midfielder. He captained Arsenal’s U-16 side and played few games for U-18 as well as Arsenal reserves.
Jack Wilshere broke into the Arsenal senior side in 2008-09 season, and spent the second half of the 2009-10 season on loan at Bolton Wanderers for whom he showcased some brilliant performances, resulting into his first call up to the England team and eventually his debut against Hungary in August 2010.
The following season (2010-11), however, was the breakthrough season for Wilshere who started to appear for Arsenal regularly. He is currently on his way to clinch a regular place in the England eleven as he has already impressed England manager Fabio Capello with his immaculate maturity. He also represented England at various age levels including U-16, U-17, U-19, and U-21.
Wilshere can occupy a number of positions in the midfield thanks to his versatility as a player. Primarily a defensive midfielder, he is also highly effective in the attacking midfield role for his attacking intent and creativity. He is highly skilled at passing, tackling and dribbling, and is well-known for his vision and ability to be involved in team game.
Jack Wilshere could not win any title yet with Arsenal senior side, but he already won Premier Academy League and FA Youth Cup with Arsenal’s academy and youth teams. He was nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award in April 2011.
