Fred Karger
Biography
Fred Karger was born on 31st January in Glencoe, Illinois. He is an American political consultant; he is also a gay rights activist, watch-dog farmer, former actor and now a candidate for the 2012 presidential elections. He is yet to be ever elected to public offices. His related vocations however include work on nine presidential campaigns; he even served as a consultant to the campaigns of President Regan, Gerald Ford and President G.W Bush.
Early life
Karger was born to Jean Foreman and Robert Karger. His mother was antive community volunteer and his father owned a brokerage firm. Eventually Fred Karger moved to Los Angeles to start acting. However, Karger continued to work towards his politicial career and became a partner at the Dolphin Group in 1977.
Work
Karger started acting when he moved to Los Angeles. He starred in a commercial for shaving cream directed by John Hughes; he got feature roles in ‘Owen Marshal: Counselor at Large’, ‘Rich Man, Poor Man’, ‘Horshack!’ and ‘Airport-1975’. In 1977 he stopped acting as much and concentrated on his political career.
Fred Karger was a part of the Dolphin Group; the Dolphin Group was a campaign consulting firm based in California. He worked as a political consultant for a full 27 years and then retired. While a partner at the firm, he was the Executive Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer up till 2004. Whilst he was working for them he enabled his group to lead the campaigns of California Governor George Deukmejian, and Lt. Governor Mike Curb along with the presidential campaigns mentioned earlier. Additionally, he also managed statewide and local ballot measure campaigns, judicial campaigns and several campaign finance and streering committees.
Since then, he has gone on to be an activist on gay rights causes. His gay rights causes include protecting the gay bar ‘The Boom’ and fighting against the LDS Church’s campaign to repeal the same-sex marriage laws. He also uses his organization Californians Against Hate in a lot of the causes.
Karger first revealed he was considering being a presidential candidate at a press conference on 10th April2010. He attended the SRLC along with other potential Republican Presidential hopefuls such as Sarah Palin, Ron Paul, Rick Santorum and Gary Johnson. This was the day after GOP Pesidential candidate Romney declared forming his 2012 exploratory committee-consequently Karger declared himself to be the ‘Anti-Romney’ candidate.
He even went as far as to announce he ‘’plans to run a campaign specifically designed to throw a wrench into Romney’s run’’. Since he announced himself to be a presidential candidate for the 2012 elections he has been back and forth to Iowa and New Hampshire to talk to voters, hold press conferences, etc.
