Person Biography:(required) <p>Edward Samuel "Ed" Miliband became the Leader of the Labour Party in the United Kingdom after beating his older brother, David, on 25 September 2010.He has been the Memper of Parliament (MP) for Doncaster in South Yorkshire since 2005 and served in Gordon Brown's cabinet from 2007 until Labour lost the 2010 election.</p> <p>Born in London on Christmas Eve 1969, his father, Ralph Miliband was a Marxist intellectual and sociologist, who was born in Belgium of Polish Jewish ancestry but fled to the UK during the Second World War. His mother was Marion Kozak who survived the Holocaust due to protection being given to her by Polish Roman Catholics.</p> <p>He was educated at Primrose Hill Primary School and then attended Haverstock Comprehensive School in Chalk Farm. After leaving school, Ed studied at Corpus Christi College, Oxford where he read  Philosophy, Politics and Economics, gaining a Bachelor of  Arts degree. His Postgraduate study was at the London School of Economics where a obtained a Masters in Economics.</p> <p>He went on to become a Labour Party researcher becoming one of Gordon Brown's confidantes when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer and was chairman of the Treasury's Council of Economic Advisers. When Brown became Prime Minister he appointed Ed Miliband as Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster on june 28 2007.
