While I personally would have selected Andy Carroll to start against Ukraine, Danny got the nod as Roy Hodgson kept faith with him and he certainly put in a shift, although he is still a young player to play so isolated, which was due in part to the English tactics of sitting deep. Ahead of the Quarter-final match versus Italy, word has it that Danny will retain his starting berth. Danny's quick thinking and skill provided the 3rd English goal of their 3-2 victory over Sweden at the EURO 2012 tournament in both Poland & Ukraine. He has started both games for the 3 Lions under new manager Roy Hodgson and has definitely repaid the faith shown in him ahead of the next match vs Ukraine, where England will need at least a draw to ensure advancement and Wayne Rooney is eligible to play after serving his suspension.

Danny recovered from a late season injury to be in the starting lineup for England vs. France in their opening Euro 2012 match which was drawn 1-1. He seems to have benefitted from being at Manchester United so much and should be an integral part of not only this tournament but the qualifiying campaign for Brazil 2014!

Danny finally scored again for Man Utd as they moved back in front of Manchester City with a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa. His running off the ball and work-rate were top knotch. He will definitely continue to improve!

Danny is in the squad to face Holland on February 29th, 2012 at Wembley.
