Chin Peng (Chinese: 陳平, Mandarin Chén Píng), former OBE, was born in 1924 as Ong Boon Hua (Chinese: 王文華, Pinyin Wáng Wén Huá) in Sitiawan and was a long-time leader of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP). A determined anti-colonialist, he led the party's guerrilla insurgency in the Malayan Emergency and beyond.
