Person Biography:(required) <p> </p> <p>Buddy Roemer is a renowned politician who has served as the 52nd governor of Louisiana State. He was born on October 4, 1943, in Shreveport. Roemer’s early life was spent on the Scopena plantation near Bossier City.</p> <p>Buddy Roemer was a valedictorian of Bossier High School, and he graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA degree in 1967. Roemer later went back to Louisiana and became a member of the Congress, after he worked for a few years in his father’s business.</p> <p>Being part of the Congress, Buddy Roemer represented the northwestern Louisiana district. In 1978, Roemer lost the Fourth District seat in Congress, which was being vacated by popular incumbent Joseph David. In 1980, Roemer advanced to the general election during which Ronald Reagan won the presidential election over Jimmy Carter. After this tenure, Roemer became the governor.</p> <p>For the Gubernatorial elections in 1987, “Roemer Revolution” was one of the most successful campaigns led by Buddy Roemer in which he promised to "scrub the budget", overhaul the education system, reform campaign finance rules, and slash the state bureaucracy by "bricking up the top three floors of the Education Building."</p> <p>Buddy Roemer as a Democrat, started his gubernatorial career with a state budget deficit of $1.3 billion. In order to fix the conditions of the state Roemer called a special session of the legislature to push an ambitious tax and fiscal reform program for state and local governments. He planned cut back on spending, abolish programs, and close state-run institutions. These proposals were however rejected by voters in a statewide constitutional referendum.</p> <p>Many were not happy with Buddy Roemer’s gubernatorial career since some thought he was inconsistent and he had poor relations with state legislators too.</p> <p>In 1991, Buddy Roemer joined the Republican Party, which earned him a reputation of erratic behavior. Many Republicans and Democrats were not happy with this switch. In the 1991 gubernatorial elections, Roemer came in third and was defeated.</p> <p>After this defeat Buddy Roemer partnered with his long time friend, Joe Traigle and started a company called The Sterling Group , Inc in which they traded plastic raw material between U.S.A and Mexico.</p> <p>In 1995, Buddy Roemer attempted to enter the political arena again, by running for governorship. This attempt didn’t bear any fruits and he later contemplated entering the race for Senator. However, he let the race go. Buddy Roemer is the C.E.O. of Business First Bank in Baton Rouge.</p> <p>In 2011, Buddy Roemer announced that he is considering the bid for the U.S. Presidency 2012.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>
