Chou En-Lai at the Bandung Conference

Chou En-Lai (Zhou Enlai) addressing a closed session of the famous Bandung Conference in Indonesia, 1955. The meeting of Asian and African government representatives, many from newly independent countries, was viewed in the West and the Soviet Union as an attempt to move away from the influence of the great powers and form a new alliance of mostly poor undeveloped country. China, by the far the biggest and most powerful of the nations represented, played a major part in the conference and its aims.
