Simon Cowell has become a world-wide celebrity in just a few short years. Yet, to many people, Simon has no particular talents. He is not a musician, singer, poet, artist, actor or entertainer, but he is an entrepreneur. Simon seems to have the Midas touch in many ways. He has his finger on the pulse of the music industry and currently can do no wrong. Everyone has their day, eventually though, and so it is fair to assume will Simon.

Simon was born on 7th October 1959, in Brighton, England. Simon's early working life will sound familiar to many successful individuals. He tried a succession of jobs but never stayed in any of them long. He was always in conflict with his employers and would move one. Luckily for Simon his Dad worked at EMI records. This led to a humble career opportunity, working in the mail room of EMI.

Cowell quickly rose to record producer, leaving EMI in 1980 to launch his own record label. His first label did not last but undeterred he tried again with limited success. His first major step on the road to global fame came with the creation of a singing contest, Pop Idol, in the UK. This was a huge success and was adopted by countries around the world. He went on to create X Factor and Britain's Got Talent. Simon is due to depart from X Factor UK, for his new venture X Factor USA, in the near future.

Recently though Simon has been edging his bets, as to whether or not he will leave X Factor UK. One thing is certain though, we have not seen the last of Simon Cowell yet, not by a long way.
