Samuel Dale "Sam" Brownback (born September 12, 1956) is the senior United States Senator from the U.S. state of Kansas. During 2007, he was a candidate in the Republican primaries for the 2008 Presidential election. He has announced that he will not seek re-election to the Senate in 2010, and has filed papers to run for Governor of Kansas in the 2010 election.
