Rocky Elsom (born 14 February 1983 in Melbourne) is an Australian rugby union footballer. He is the current captain of the Wallabies. His usual position is as a flanker - normally, blindside, although he can play openside, lock or number eight. He has captained the Waratahs, his previous club, on occasion. In mid-2008 he joined the Irish side Leinster in the Magners League competition. Elsom is considered a rare talent in being able to play all three back row positions as well as lock, making him a rare utility forward. He is known for his brute strength and his tackling ability. Over his career Elsom has also worked on his line-out jumping, becoming a valuable extra option because of his height, which stands at almost 2 metres.
