Rafael Nadal presents record-breaking singer Julio Iglesias with two awards
Spanish singing star Julio Iglesias was presented with two awards on Friday (December 16) in Madrid in honour of his record sales in Spain and around the world. The singer is number one singer in Spain and is the leading Latin artist worldwide. In a small ceremony organised by his label Sony Record, the 68-year-old Iglesias received the awards from Spain's top tennis player and world number two, Rafael Nadal who said that Iglesias' music always goes with him around the world. "Julio is a special person because he can reach the hearts of the people around the five continents and I can attest that because in every place I have travelled to I was accompanied by Julio and I'm not talking about the songs I have in my iPod, I can be having dinner in Japan or North America and at some point some Julio song is played," said the 25-year-old Nadal. Iglesias has sold 23 million records in his home country and 300 million worldwide and received awards all over the world but he said that Friday was the most important day in his career as it was the last public act at which he will appear.
