Ellen Johnson Sirleaf: Oppenheimer Lecture 2006
Soon after becoming Africa's first woman president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf delivered the inaugural Oppenheimer Lecture at the IISS in 2006. The lecture series, sponsored by African businessman Nicky Oppenheimer and his family, is given by eminent African personalities. Johnson Sirleaf -- later to become a Nobel Prize winner in 2011 -- used her home country of Liberia as a case study to discuss 'The challenges of leadership in post-conflict Africa'.
