Chairman Mao Zedong, shortly prior to its death, this time he wanted to watch everybody walk out instead of going first. Mao said: "If you are not going, I will also not go"... 毛泽东:"你们不走,我也不走" ... Mao Zedong, founder of New China, was a great revolutionary leader and statesman. In hard times with an economic embargo from the entire West many Chinese died during the great famine. He also did make a few mistakes though, however during his time leading China he did a fair amount to help out the disadvantaged of China and brought the country to where it is today. Mao still is most popular amongst the poor and workers. In that position and those very very hard times, I wonder if anyone else could have prevented more people from dying. China's current immense economic success is a precious legacy from Chairman Mao, who laid the first foundation, and other late Chinese leaders with Deng Xiaoping in front. All revolutions in history have cost blood only China is pursuing it much later than most Western countries. Don't forget we did the same thing, and often much worse. Leaders in such times had to make tuff decisions and make the best out of it. Mao did well compared to many already developed countries. I'm from the Netherlands and we for instance have a much more bloody history than China with slavery and murder within and even outside our country. ~ Our own Western leaders back then responsible for all this bloodshed, slavery and oppression are considered as <b>...</b>
