Mamata Banerjee (Bengali: মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়) (born 5 January 1955) is an Indian politician from the State of West Bengal. She is the founder and chief executive of the Trinamool Congress ("Grassroots Congress") political party. She is popular as "Didi"(Bengali word meaning "Elder Sister") in West Bengal. Mamta Banerjee is noted for her opposition to Special Economic Zones and industrialization in West Bengal at the cost of agriculturalists and laborers.
