European Policy Summit, 3 May 2012, Brussels. bit.ly The EU-China Partnership for Sustainable Urbanisation must necessarily involve dialogue between all elements of both societies but efforts should begin on the local level in order to produce the best results. "To be successful, our partnership needs to be based on a peer-to-peer process between city mayors and local governments," advised Li Keqiang, Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China. The cross-cutting nature of the urbanisation process calls for a closer dialogue between stakeholders from all levels and across all sectors, from local initiatives aimed at bettering the quality of life for city dwellers, through national efforts at greening cities, to international economic cooperation. © European Union, 2012 www.friendsofeurope.org
