Hans Thomas Reiser (born December 19, 1963) is an American computer programmer, famous for his contributions to free software in the field of file systems. On April 28, 2008, he was convicted of the murder of his estranged wife, Nina Reiser, after her 2006 disappearance. He faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison. On Friday, June 6, 2008 Alameda County District Attorney Thomas Orloff has said that Reiser may disclose the location of Nina Reiser's body in exchange for a lighter sentence.
