The late President Gerald R Ford was honored with a statue of himself in the Capital Rotunda. The ceremony was little noticed, nor will it be long remembered, but to those who thought of Ford as the right person at the right time in our history, it was an important day. I have to admit that I missed the event all together, and did not see it except by accident on a C-SPAN repeat. And as you can see, I thought it good enough to upload. Why would I upload and event about a President in the 1970's who was never even once elected by the American people? The reason is because I believe that he played a pivotal role in our history; he kept us together during what was considered a dark time in this country. I was very little at the time and remember nothing about it, although years later I remember my parents talking about, I think in the waning years of the Peanut Administration. But what I do remember is that a lot of people thought that Ford in a way held the country together. He was considered a decent and honest man who gave all sides a fair shake. Not much else to say here, except that those were defiantly different times. Politicians were for the most part a lot different back then. They seemed to get along better. Is that a good thing? I'm not sure. I only know that it's the opposite of what we are experiencing today. We will see which is better in the not so distant future; the old way or the new way. jbranstetter04
