FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Present and former teammates turned out in left field of the brand new jetBlue Park on Friday evening for the retirement ceremony of longtime Boston Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield. One of those who took the time to make an appearance was former teammate Derek Lowe, who was with Wakefield on the 2003 and 2004 Red Sox teams. In 2003, Wakefield surrendered the game-winning homer to Aaron Boone in Game 7 of the ALCS, sending the New York Yankees to the World Series. The next season, Wakefield surrendered his Game 4 start to eat up innings in Game 3, a contest the Red Sox lost, 19-8. His effort was recognized by the team as crucial as the Red Sox became the first team to come from three games down to win a series in MLB history. Wakefield last season won his 200th game.
