Senator Scott Dibble says repealing the "Next Generation Energy Act" will do nothing to bring more energy, more jobs or a better environment to Minnesota. He says it will do quite the opposite. He says the law that was passed in 2007 had overwhelmingly bipartisan support. It put standards in place to curb pollution and encourage job growth. It put Minnesota on the map to create jobs instead of shipping 550 million out of state to coal operations. He says it is wrong to say we have a coal moratorium. He says if coal can become cleaner or we can eliminate other carbon emissions, we can build more plants. He also says the utilities with one exception are telling him they don't need additional plants.
