Chris Evert beats Bonnie Gadusek in Classic Ice Maiden Match - 1983 Deerfield Final

Once upon a time, Bonnie Gadusek walked into the press room and announced she was going to beat Chris Evert in the finals of Deerfield Beach, Florida to win her very first tournament. As one would expect, those words entered Evert's ears like a drill and she responded with some of her most laser-beamed tennis of 1983, in a performance where the Ice Maiden set the chill dial to stone cold. Lynda Carter was the tournament host and spent most of the 6-0 first set beatdown in the booth with Mary Carillo, which was an added bonus. Despite the result of Gadusek winning only 4 games in the match, it was a well-fought encounter, and young Bonnie showed she wasn't ready to make the claim she did, but she sure had plenty of game and spunk. footage courtesy of chrisevert.net
