Brit Hume Already Writing Romney's Obituary - 'Ryan: Presumptive Next Candidate' ?!
Listen to Brit Hume right after the announcement of Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney's Vice Presidential candidate and you'll hear not only a lack of enthusiasm for Mitt Romney winning the election, but appears to concede that the good thing about Ryan is he'll benefit from running for next time around. The 'Future of the Party' as he terms it. Brit Hume says a vice presidential candidate pick does nothing to move the meter on the election as they are today, and it sounds like to me that he has completely given up on Romney being able to win the election at this point, given how bad things look for his campaign, especially now after his choice of Paul Ryan and the level of attacks that can be thrown at Romney now that he has pulled him into the ticket. Brit isn't one to mince words, and he not only speaks about Ryan as if the election is already lost, he goes on to mention the similarities of what happened in 2008 -- the outcome of putting Palin on the ticket -- that it energized the convention, for a time, but how in the end it did nothing. She ended up not only not helping -- rather, she may have actually hurt. After Dick Cheney recently admitted that Sarah Palin as a choice for VP on the GOP side of the ticket was a mistake, it sounds to me that Brit is admitting that while Paul Ryan has promise in the future of the GOP, his pick as VP is the final nail in the coffin of Romney's failing & flailing campaign. Brit knows his politics, and I think he knows this one is over. Turn ...
