Merkel: EC to make public results of upcoming nuclear stress-tests

German chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday said that the leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union have asked the European Commission to make public the results of the upcoming stress tests for nuclear facilities in Europe. The EU also is encouraging bordering member states, such as the Ukraine, to apply similar stress tests, in the wake of the nuclear disaster in Japan with the Fukushima nuclear power plant.
