June 07, 2011 The Center for Neurohealth Sciences at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center ( http://www.floridabrainandspine.com ) wants to inform patients with back pain about the variety of procedures that are now available to local patients. According to the Center for Neurohealth Sciences at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, there are several common procedures that can be used to help patients reduce back pain. Those procedures include: Laminectomy, Discectomy, Decompression, Laminectomy and Lumbar Fusion. Our center provides patients a number of options for surgery to help reduce their pain, said Robert Martin, MD, neurosurgeon at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. We use the latest in minimally invasive techniques that allow our patients a much shorter recovery time. The Center for Neurohealth Sciences at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center will be expanding its ability to see patients with back and spine conditions with the addition of a third neurosurgeon, Christopher Kent, MD. Dr. Kent, who joins the Center from Lincoln, NE on June 27, 2011. With the addition of Dr. Kent, the Center for Neurohealth Sciences will offer: Cervical laminectomy and fusion Intradural and extradural spinal canal tumors Chiari malformation surgery Evaluation and treatment of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus Surgical treatment of Trigeminal Neuralgia Shunting for Hydrocephalus Craniotomy for Tumor or Hemorrhage Carpal Tunnel and Ulnar nerve surgery Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center recently added the O-arm® Complete Multidimensional Surgical Imaging System to its Center. The O-arm System is a mobile surgical imaging system incorporating a telescoping "O" shaped gantry for lateral patient access to provide multidimensional imaging and fluoroscopy on a digital flat panel detector. It integrates the features of a preoperative 3D CT radiography and intraoperative 2D fluoroscopy, allowing surgeons to view patient anatomy in the operative position, monitor the status of the surgery and verify the surgical changes prior to the patient leaving the surgical suite. Multidimensional high resolution images provide in-depth visualization of unexposed anatomy allowing surgeons to apply minimally invasive techniques to spinal pathologies. If you are concerned about back pain and would like schedule an appointment to see a neurosurgeon, visit us on the web at http://www.floridabrainandspine.com or call 386-231-3540. ### Contact
