Taiwan's Taiex index rose 36.12, or 0.5 percent, to close at 7,545.29 in Taipei trading, the highest since June 27, 2008. Cathay Financial Holding Co., Taiwan's largest listed financial services company, climbed 2.8 percent to NT$54.90, the highest since September 2008.
