A strong earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred in the Tonga Islands at 9.08am Friday at latitude 15.82 South and longitude 174.8 West. A Meteorologial Department statement here said that the epicentre was located 7,021km west of Davao in the Philippines and from 7,717km west of Tawau, Sabah.
