It was not an address to Congress at all, it was intended and was clearly a plea to the masses. And without a Constitutional amendment, his agenda is feeding nothing more than the industries since that is all who were consulted on that hideous "health care deform," bill. And it is simply a move to centralize more power in Washington, since every state in the nation already has catastrophic care that covers those unable to be insured, or indigent.

What part of that don't you get?

I understand every part of what you're saying, Ross.

When somebody shows up at the emergency room to have their life saved from a melanoma or a late stage disease, it costs us much more than if we had provided them with a diagnosis and a 30 minute operation or a short course of antibiotics.

Catastrophic care is much more expensive than preventative care. The people who are in the emergency room because they couldn't afford preventative care are also not going to be able to pay the sky-high ER bills.

This is why the US spends twice as much on healthcare as any other developed nation for slightly substandard results. You may not believe that healthcare is a moral necessity, but it is a financial one.
