Turkish warplanes hit PKK targets in Iraq

The military says Turkish warplanes have struck Kurdish rebel targets inside northern Iraq. It says the jets bombed the Zap region, close to the Turkish border, Monday. A military statement said all planes returned to their bases safely and described the operation as "effective."
