OIL prices closed lower for a fourth straight session in New York, depleted by fresh evidence of weak demand and growing stockpiles. Light, sweet crude for December delivery dropped US77c, or 1.4 per cent, to settle at $US53.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
