In late September, the United States government announced an Anti-Dumping law that will place duties on all stamped stainless steel sinks imported from China. This law was put into effect to control the price of manufactured goods being traded from China. The price of steel, among other materials, has have been raised for many companies all over the U.S. For MR Direct, a 60% tariff has been placed on most of their stainless steel products, forcing prices to increase.
Not all stainless steel sinks from MR Direct are affected, however. The law only pertains to stamped steel, or sinks that are constructed through a molding process. MR Direct carries many styles of stainless steel sinks that are made by folding the steel and welding the corners. Since these welding sinks are handmade, they are untouched by the new law.
To ease the strain of the price increase, MR Direct has implemented new procedures to make the transition easier on their customers. These new procedures include 30 day terms to all customers who are approved. Also, a 3% discount will be passed along to any customer paying by credit card or echeck. Both of these procedures are sure to make all price increases more tolerable for everyone.
Another way MR Direct is ensuring their customers still get a great deal is the launch of a new line of budget-priced sinks. This line contains three stainless steel sinks with the same outer dimensions and cutout size. The three sinks include the 3218A-an equal double bowl undermount sink, the 3218B-an offset double bowl undermount sink and the 3218C-a large single bowl undermount sink. All three sinks are priced at $97.00, a very competitive price in the stainless steel sink marketplace.
MR Direct is working towards a competitive American alternative for stainless steel sinks that will ensure competitive pricing. Until then, they remain one of the country’s most reasonably priced sink and faucet suppliers. Even with the price increase, MR Direct continues to provide customers with great quality sinks priced well below big name-brands.
