Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed predicts an 81 percent turnout for the general election now under way by mail. Spokesman Dave Ammons says the turnout is expected to be a bit lower than the record 85 percent turnout four years ago. But it's estimated to be above the historic average of 79 percent for presidential elections, which is when turnout spikes...Ammons says more than 120,000 voters have been added to the rolls since the primary, and people can still register in person through Oct. 29 at county election offices.
